When shall we arrive at your place?
It is sufficient when you are ready to start at the time I gave you. We will then fetch, groom and saddle the horses together. The riding time starts when we mount the horses.
How much time do we need to plan in from start to finish?
You need to allow an extra hour on top of the time for the ride. Please arrive at the time I have given you. We will fetch, groom and saddle the horses together, then go for our ride. Afterwards you will help to take the gear off and take the horses back to their paddock.
What happens when the weather is bad?
It is up to you if you want to go out when it is raining. In substantial rain the ride can be cancelled free of charge. I do however have a rain jacket and pants for you to wear in case of light rain. Please note that the weather is very changeable around here. The forecast can not always be trusted and it can happen that it rains in other parts of Christchurch but not here. If you are unsure, please give me a text or call on my mobile 027 5050542 to discuss.
What shall we wear?
Please wear long comfortable pants and closed in shoes. There can be a cold wind at the beach, so you might need a light jacket even on warm days. Ladies are advised to wear a sports bra so they can truly enjoy the tölt.
Do you take beginners?
I can take one beginner per ride on a lead rope. The other riders must have enough horse riding experience to be able to stop and direct their horse themselves.
Can children come on your treks?
Children between 4 and 10 years old can only do the lagoon trek and have to be on a lead rope. I can only take one child per ride on a lead rope.
Children from 10 years of age can come on the beach ride but have to be on a lead rope unless they have enough previous riding experience to stop and direct their horse on their own. One child per ride can be taken on a lead rope.
Am I too heavy or too tall for your horses?
Icelandic Horses are small but very strong. They can carry adults up to 100 kg. Even if you are tall you can ride an Icelandic Horse- it might look unusual, but your feet will not touch the ground!
What payment options do you have?
You can pay either cash or with Eftpos or Credit Card on the day of your ride.
Are you open all year round?
Yes, we are generally open all year round but are closed on Mondays. You do need to make a booking before you come out for a ride.
